PBS Books Virtual Event: Author Talk with Annette Bay Pimentel and Jennifer Keelan-Chaffins
Tue, 07/19/2022 - 5:00pm
As this month marks the 32nd anniversary of the passing of the Americans with Disabilities Act, learn some more about Jennifer Keelan, the young activist who helped spur its passing. PBS Books will host a virtual event, Author Talk with Annette Bay Pimentel and Jennifer Keelan-Chaffins, on Tuesday, July 19 at 5 p.m. on WXXI's Facebook page.
In 1990, at the age of eight, Jennifer famously climbed out of her wheelchair and up the steps of the U.S. Capitol Building during the "Capitol Crawl," a protest in support of the Americans with Disabilities Act, which extended important civili rights to disabled Americans. Jennifer has been an activist since age 6 and continues to advocate for disability rights to this day. Annete Bay Pimentel is a nonfiction children's book author.
