Thu, 03/31/2022 - 4:00pm - 6:00pm

Join WXXI Education for a free digital storytelling workshop using inspiration and resources from PBS' Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates, Jr. and digital media creation tools.

Learn how to use digital media creation tools to encourage student storytelling, empower and support student media literacy skills, and explore some of the personal histories highlighted in PBS’ Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates, Jr. The workshop will explore free-to-use media creation tools and public media resources to support educators and leaders with student storytelling. The session will also explore PBS' Finding Your Roots resources available for inspiration, including personal stories from well-known individuals, such as Leslie Odom Jr., Nathan Lane, Regina King, Melissa Villaseñor, and more, highlighted in the current season of Finding Your Roots. Participants will also learn about a stipend opportunity for implementation of student storytelling projects.
