Thu, 11/18/2021 - 7:00pm - 8:30pm

Join WXXI and WSKG, along with New York State Department of Environmental Conservation for a virtual screening and discussion around the new documentary, Uninvited: The Spread of Invasive Species.

What would happen if wine, maple syrup, and apples disappeared from our tables? This is what's at stake with invasive species. In a new documentary called "Uninvited: The Spread of Invasive Species", New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) introduces the concept of invasive species and highlights some of the species threatening New York's environment and economy, while also showing some innovative ways that New York State is combatting these threats.

WXXI and WSKG are partnering with NYSDEC to host a free virtual screening and discussion related to the new film and the topic of invasive species.

What: Join us for a screening and panel discussion on 'Uninvited: The Spread of Invasive Species' - hear from experts including: NYSDEC Forest Health Diagnostic Lab Coordinator, Jess Cancelliere; NYS Agriculture & Markets Division of Plant Industry Coordinator, Chris Logue: and filmmaker, Steve Powers. They will share which invasive species are having a large impact on ecosystems and the economy and what New York State is doing to help. What can be done to curb these threats and how can we all help?

Event Details: The virtual event will present a series of clips from the documentary, allow the audience to hear from experts related to the film, and join the conversation to ask questions. Participants will also receive support resources and tips (in the form of links) from the experts.
