How does a cathedral prepare for more than 45,000 people coming through its doors during the holiday season?

London's St. Paul's Cathedral is an iconic landmark that has served host to British royalty for numerous weddings, funerals and celebrations. Christmas at St. Paul's, airing Friday, December 18 at 8:30 p.m on WXXI-TV, goes behind the scenes as the cathedral gears up for the Christmas season, when an expected 45,000 visitors will pass through its doors.

Rebuilt by Sir Christopher Wren after the Great Fire destroyed its predecessor in 1666, St. Paul's Cathedral is known as the Nation's Church.  The cathedral has become an iconic symbol of London having served as the venue for the royal wedding of Charles and Diana, Winston Churchill's funeral, and the Queen's 90th Birthday Service.

Every Christmas, the cathedral puts on 17 different services and concerts, including the Advent Procession and the carol concerts. From the clergy to the choir boys, the program reveals the great lengths everyone involved must undertake to turn beloved traditions into reality.
