Arts InFocus: Move to Include
Fri, 09/04/2020 - 8:30pm - 9:00pm
Arts InFocus looks back on some of its best stories featuring the work of artists with disabilities, who continue to shape and stimulate the cultural landscape in and around Rochester.
Arts InFocus, WXXI's digital and on-air series that offers intimate conversations with people who create art or curate it, looks back on some of its best stories featuring the work of artists with disabilities, who continue to shape and stimulate the cultural landscape in and around Rochester. Go behind the scenes at the Memorial Art Gallery’s De’VIA exhibit from earlier this year and explore work of artists with disabilities working in spite of the COVID-19 restrictions and shut downs. Arts InFocus: Move to Include, airing Friday, September 4, 2020 at 8:30 p.m. on WXXI-TV, shares inspiring stories that inform our shared cultural awareness.
This special episode, part of WXXI and the Golisano Foundation’s Move to Include initiative, repeats Saturday, September 6 at 6:30pm on WXXI TV – and always online with new stories of the Rochester arts scene at: Facebook.com/WXXIArtsInFocus.
Move to Include is a partnership between WXXI and the Golisano Foundation designed to promote inclusion for people with intellectual and physical disabilities. Through programming and special events, WXXI and the Golisano Foundation look to build a more inclusive community by inspiring and motivating people to embrace different abilities and include all people in every aspect of community life. The Foundation has provided more than $1 million in funding to date for Move to Include in Rochester. The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) awarded the initiative a $645,000 grant to help expand the multimedia initiative to these five public media organizations over 16 months. The stations are creating programming to meet their community needs while expanding awareness regionally and nationally.
