Move to Include: Vision Portraits WEBINAR
Move to Include: Vision Portraits WEBINAR
Mon, 07/27/2020 - 7:00pm - 9:00pm
The WORLD Channel is hosting this virtual screening of several sequences of the film Vision Portraits.
On July 26, 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law, prohibiting discrimination and guaranteeing same opportunities to people with disabilities. To commemorate this law, WORLD Channel is joining Move to Include, an initiative that uses the power of public media to inform and transform attitudes and behavior about inclusion. Move to Include was founded by WXXI Public Media and the Golisano Foundation and expanded with a grant by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
What is the state of disability rights in the United States today? What changes have artists seen regarding access and inclusion for people with disabilities? How can we all be part of the change for disability in the arts?
Join WORLD on Monday, July 27 at 7 p.m. EST on ZOOM for the screening of several poignant sequences of the film, and a conversation and Q&A with Rodney Evans, acclaimed director of Vision Portraits, and some of the artists portrayed in the film.

In Vision Portraits, Evans faces the partial loss of his vision and embarks on a quest to learn how several blind and low vision artists have continued to create art and how their journeys might impact his own.
