World on Fire on Masterpiece, A Preview Screening

Join WXXI for a free preview screening of Masterpiece's newest series, a World War II drama that follows the intertwining fates of ordinary people in five countries as they grapple with the effects of the war on their everyday lives.

Due to concerns around the coronavirus, we have cancelled this screening. But, be sure to tune in for the seven-part series premiere on  Sunday, April 5 at 9 p.m. on WXXI-TV.

On Sunday, March 29 WXXI will host a free preview screening of Masterpiece's newest series, World on Fire at the Little Theatre (240 East Avenue). See the first episode on the big screen before its television premiere on WXXI-TV in April. Doors open at 10:15am and seats are first come, first served. Screening begins at 11am. In addition to the screening, guests will enjoy raffle prizes and giveaways!

Set in Britain, Poland, France, Germany and the United States, the events of the seven-hour World on Fire series take place during the first year of the war. The stellar cast includes Academy Award®-winner Helen Hunt (As Good As it Gets, Mad About You), Sean Bean (Game of Thrones), Academy Award®-nominee Lesley Manville (Phantom Thread), Jonah Hauer-King (Little Women on MASTERPIECE, Howard’s End) and Blake Harrison (A Very English Scandal). The seven-part series premieres Sunday, April 5 at 9 p.m. on WXXI-TV.
