Indie Lens Pop-Up: Always in Season

WXXI presents this Indie Lens Pop-Up film that follows a mother’s search for justice and reconciliation that begins while the trauma of more than a century of lynching Black Americans bleeds into the present.

In Always in Season, descendants of the victims and perpetrators of lynching are working together to heal a violent history. Blending observational footage with first-person testimonies and expert input, Always in Season examines the lingering impact of lynching and the link between this historic form of racial terrorism and the racial violence that exists today. Join WXXI on Monday, February 17, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. at the Little Theatre for this FREE Indie Pop-Up series presentation of Always in Season.

A panel discussion will follow, moderated by Nate Brown, Jr. Mr. Brown is co-host of the radio talk show “What’s Going On With Brown and Allen on Fox Sports 1280AM every Sunday morning from 8am-9am. He is an educator, mentor, community activist, leader, consultant, counselor, project director and coordinator of numerous youth programs in the Rochester community.

Panelists include:
Dr. Kiah E. Nyame is the Founding Executive Director of Ujima Atlanta/Rochester, a pro-social development agency serving severely-at-risk youth and their families. He has served as a founding member, volunteer project director, and program coordinator for services offered by the Rochester Fatherhood Resource Initiative Inc. With over twenty years experience in the education, juvenile justice, and youth behavioral fields, he is an expert in youth cultural trauma and youth intervention/prevention.  He is a certified street outreach gang specialist and human resource manager.
