Chasing the Moon, a film by Robert Stone, reimagines the race to the moon for a new generation, upending much of the conventional mythology surrounding the effort. The series recasts the Space Age as a fascinating stew of scientific innovation, political calculation, media spectacle, visionary impulses and personal drama.
The Monroe County Library System has partnered with WXXI to show special screenings of the American Experience documentary, “Chasing the Moon” to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing. Below is a list of MCLS member libraries that will be screening portions of the documentary and a brief description of each part. Find Schedule and locations

The WXXI initiatives is part of PBS A SUMMER OF SPACE multiplatform experience, anchored by the highly anticipated AMERICAN EXPERIENCE six-hour film Chasing the Moon, and including new science and history programs, will begin in July timed to the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Apollo 11 moon landing. Chasing the Moon, written, produced and directed by Academy Award nominee Robert Stone, premieres Monday-Wednesday, July 8-10, 9:00-11:00 p.m. on WXXI-TV.
