Sesame Street Day with the Red Wings
Sesame Street Day with the Red Wings
Sun, 06/30/2019 - 1:00pm - 4:00pm
WXXI Kids celebrates Sesame Street's 50th Birthday with the Red Wings at Frontier Field.
Sesame Street is turning 50 and WXXI Kids is celebrating all year long. We're kicking off the festivities with our good friends at Frontier Field as the Red Wings take on the Pawtucket Red Sox on Sunday, June 30 at 1:05 p.m. Join us for a fun day of baseball filled with Sesame Street giveaways, silly Sesame-themed challenges, and photo opportunities with your favorite little Red Monster!
Warm up your singing voices to sing "Sunny Days" with the entire stadium to wish Sesame Street a Happy 50th Birthday! WXXI will be taping the sing-along and sharing it with Sesame Workshop and on social media. Get your song sheet to practice in advance.
Order your tickets online at Red Wings ticketing site to reserve your seats. The game starts at 1:05 p.m. and doors open at 12 p.m.
More about Sesame Street:
It all began in 1969 on a street where colorful Muppets and humans lived -- and learned -- side by side. Set against the backdrop of the civil rights movement and the war on poverty, Sesame Street was created to answer a simple question: could television be used to level the playing field and help prepare less advantaged children for school? The founders tapped educational advisors and researchers, entertainers and television producers, and other visionaries to create what became the longest-running children’s show in American television history. Ever since, Sesame Street has helped children around the world to learn, feel included and respect others. With a curriculum that evolves to meet the needs of every new generation, it is now a force for good in over 70 languages and 150 countries.
