Rochester's "Queen of the Blues" Debbie Kendrick performs with her band and kicks off summer fun with WXXI Kids!

Blues lovers and music enthusiasts alike will not want to miss out on the chance to see her powerful project perform at Hochstein at High Falls on Thursday, June 27 at 12:10 p.m. at Granite Mills ParkVocalist Debbie Kendrick carries on a tradition of many great blues and gospel artists that goes back to the legendary Son House. Her group has an acoustic vibe and its influences harkens back to the early days of blues, gospel, folk, and jazz music.

During this Hochstein at High Falls Concert, WXXI Kids will be there to kick off the summer and the Sesame Street 50th anniversary celebrations. We’ll have crafts, photo opportunities, giveaways, and we’ll be singing “Sunny Days” with the whole crowd and capturing on video to share on social media! Bring your lunch and the kiddos!

The High Falls Business Association has once again teamed up with The Hochstein School, and WXXI to present Hochstein at High Falls, a noontime summer concert series. The series includes ten outdoor concerts Thursday afternoons at 12:10 pm during June, July and August. Weather permitting, they will be held in the Granite Mills Park near the Pont de Rennes Bridge and will feature a diverse mix of musical artists and instructors. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own seating and lunch, or pick up a great lunch at area restaurants (like La Luna and Fina's Cafe). Each performance runs approximately 50 minutes.
