Summer Learning Exploration Station Events with WXXI Kids & Central Library

Join WXXI Kids and Central Library as we celebrate learning all summer long!

Come explore, learn, and play at our Exploration Station events in the Children’s Center of the Central Library.

Join WXXI Kids & the Central Library this summer as we sing, dance, and explore children's stories full of music! Kids will have the opportunity to learn about different music genres, design and make instruments of their own, and use their creative, curious brains to do lots more hands-on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) activities.

 

Who: Best for kids ages 3-12

What: Fun, FREE hands-on learning activities

Where: Children's Center of the Central Library of Rochester—115 South Ave.,Rochester, NY

When: Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning July 12th and running thru August 16th

Why: Because Libraries Rock!

The 2018 Summer Reading theme is "Libraries Rock!" so this summer our Exploration Stations will be a fusion of music and STEM activities! In case you want to get a jump start, we'll be exploring the following children's books during our summer learning events (in no particular order):

  • My Family Plays Music by Judy Cox
  • Barn Dance by Bill Martin Jr. & John Archambault
  • Musicians of the Sun by Gerald McDermott
  • The Song of Six Birds by Renee Deetlefs & Lyn Gilbert
  • I Got the Rhythm by Connie Schofield-Morrison
  • Zin! Zin! Zin! a Violin by Lloyd Moss & Marjorie Priceman
