The first feature, Close to You: Remembering the Carpenters airs on Sunday, December 9 at 8 p.m. is followed by Christmas Memories at 9 p.m. on WXXI-TV. In Close to You: Remembering the Carpenters Richard Carpenter and his friends in the music industry talk about the success of the Carpenters and their impact on music.  With hits such as "Close to You," the Carpenters proved to be one of the most significant pop music acts of 70s. Chronicling the brother-and-sister duo from their earliest high school performances to Karen's tragic death, their story is told through interviews with such musical legends as Burt Bacharach and Herb Alpert, along with clips from their many television appearances. Featuring rare performances and extensive archival material, Close to You: Remembering the Carpenters celebrates the timeless appeal of the Carpenters’ unique sound, from Karen’s hauntingly beautiful voice to Richard’s diverse talents as arranger, pianist, composer and producer.

Christmas Memories is a special holiday program starring beloved brother-sister recording duo Richard and Karen Carpenter, the most successful American recording act of the 1970s. The all-new program focuses entirely on the Carpenters’ perennially popular Christmas music offering favorites “The Christmas Song,” “Winter Wonderland,” White Christmas” and more.

The Carpenters will be followed by Aging Backwards 2 at 10 p.m. and Adirondacks at 11 p.m.
