Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival: Vijay Iyer
Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival: Vijay Iyer
Wed, 06/29/2016 - 12:00am - 1:00am
In case you want just a little more jazz, WXXI-TV presents an encore broadcast of musician, composer, and producer Vijay Iyer.
Iyer returned home to Rochester in 2014 for the Jazz Fest and WXXI-TV was there to capture the music of the man hailed as one of jazz’s great young musicians leading the way. He played some of his newer music along with some of his other favorites. In anticipation of the 2015 XRIJF, WXXI is pleased to present an encore broadcast of this Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival episode, airing at midnight on Wednesday, June 29 (which is really Thursday morning) on WXXI-TV.
Shot in the historic Kilbourn Hall at the Eastman School of Music, the series features four performances and artist interviews.
Founded in 2002 by John Nugent and Marc Iacona, the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival is held every June in Rochester, New York – home of the Eastman School of Music, the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Garth Fagan Dance and the George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film. From legendary performers and familiar favorites – to rising stars and new discoveries – the festival navigates all genres of creative improvised music from all corners of the world.
The Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival Series is produced by WXXI Public Broadcasting and distributed nationally by American Public Television. The series is underwritten by The Louis S. and Molly B. Wolk Foundation.
