Need to Know: Quinn Bachand

Need to Know: Quinn Bachand

Thu, 06/23/2016 - 8:00pm - 9:00pm

Join us on Need to Know to learn more about Quinn Bachand, a talented musician who will be performing at this year's Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival.

Twenty-year-old Quinn Bachand is one of Canada's most outstanding young musicians. With diverse musical talents and a bottomless pool of creativity, Quinn Bachand is an experienced performer, a prodigious guitar player and gifted multi-instrumentalist who is at ease playing a wide range of styles, from Celtic to Jazz. This Need to Know segment will air on Thursday, June 23 at 8 pm on WXXI-TV.

This old-soul master, when not jumping from acoustic guitar to bouzouki, Hammnd B3 to clawhammer banjo/tenor banjo, fiddle and percussion while singing lead or harmonies, is a sought after side man (Ashley MacIsaac and Natalie MacMaster), popular guitar instructor and in demand recording session player. Quinn has recorded all the Celtic guitar, Irish bouzouki, tenor banjo, clawhammer banjo and bodhran tracks for the popular software program Band-in-a-Box. Yet his quest for music and learning never stops. Having recently won the Slaight Family Scholarship (4-year ful ride) to Boston's prestigious Berklee College of Music, Quinn proves a restless rogue, working towards a Brishen follow up while burning up the world's festival stages as he promotes Little Hinges, his latest album with sister Qristina. Don't try to guess where he'll turn up next - he's bound to surprise you all over again.

Quinn Bachand will be performing at the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival at the Rochester Club - Oh Canada! Series Presented By The Canada Council For The Arts on Friday, June 24, 2016 at 6 and 10pm as well as at Max of Eastman Place on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 6:15 and 10 pm.
