Particle Fever
Particle Fever
Wed, 01/06/2016 - 10:00pm
Particle Fever follows six brilliant scientists in the launch of the Large Hadron Collider, built to recreate the conditions of the Big Bang and search for the Higgs boson, marking the start of the biggest and most expensive experiment in the history of the planet. Tune into WXXI-TV on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at 10pm for Particle Fever.
The film, directed by Mark Levinson, begins in 2008 and follows the scientific journey from the first firing of the Large Hadron Collider. The documentary was awarded $20,000 in 2015 at The Communication Awards of the National Academy of Sciences for excellence in communicating science to the general public. Through its portrayal of the launch of the LHC in relation to competing scientific theories, Particle Fever gives viewers a full understanding of how the Higgs boson came to be identified.
