Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates, Jr. continues Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at 8 p.m. on WXXI-TV when Professor Gates looks at how the ancestors of Maya Rudolph, Shonda Rhimes and Keenen Ivory Wayans struggled for freedom, and how each of these cultural trailblazers gains a new understanding of how they fit into this proud trajectory. 

Each week the professor delves into the genealogy of new guests. and each story illuminates the vast patchwork of ethnicity, race and experience that makes up the fabric of America.
