WXXI Veteran Voices Project

WXXI Veteran Voices Project

Wed, 11/11/2015 - 7:19am - 7:20am

On Veterans Day WXXI honors those who have served this country in our military forces by sharing their stories during Morning Edition and All Things Considered

Earlier this month, several veterans told their stories at the annual Stars and Stripes Celebration, an event that pays tribute to the local heroes of our Armed Forces. On Wednesday, November 11, we’ll hear from Jenkins, who served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War; RJ, a Marine who served in Iraq in 2005; and Jerry, who served in the Navy in Vietnam. These veterans voices, part of WXXI's Veterans Voices Project, will be heard at 7:19am, 7:41am, 8:19am and 4:44pm on WXXI-AM 1370, WXXI-FM 91.5 HD2, WRUR-FM 88.5, WXXY-FM 90.3, and online at wxxinews.org.

After they air on WXXI radio, the audio will be archived on WXXI's Veterans Connections web page, WXXI.org/veterans.

These stories are part of WXXI’s Veterans Connection initiative, designed to help bridge military and veteran needs with community support and awareness. WXXI and the Little Theatre have pulled together a Veterans Affairs Task Force to create a community platform, raise awareness about veteran issues, and connect veterans with resources.
