Former Rochester flutist Sherry Finzer talks about her musical concepts.

Tune in to Classical 91.5 on Friday, February 27 at 10 p.m. when Echoes host John Diliberto is joined by former Rochester fluitist Sherry Finzer. Trained in Classical flute, Sherry discovered another path – creating ambient chamber music with electronic orchestration and flute choirs. But her stops along that path include being an aerobics instructor and playing in a duo with a cowboy (Darin Mahoney).  Her album, Sanctuary III: Beyond the Dream was the Echoes CD of the Month in January.

Sherry was born in Syracuse, NY and moved to Rochester with her parents when she was 13 years old. She attended Charles H. Roth High School, where she participated in numerous All-County and Area All-State Music Festivals. Classically, Sherry performed with the Brockport Symphony Orchestra from 1986-1988, and with the Greece Symphony Orchestra from 2003-2004. While in Rochester Sherry studied under Glennda Dove-Pellito, flute professor at SUNY Geneseo. Sherry now lives in Arizona where she has a private flute studio in the Ahwatukee area of Phoenix. Echoes is a daily two-hour music soundscape, heard on Classical 91.5 Fridays at 10 p.m. With host John Diliberto, a writer for BillboardPulse and other magazines, Echoes brings together a wide array of styles, from acoustic to electronic, jazz to space music, the avant-garde to rock. Echoes is a sound that is cross-cultural and trans-millennial, merging cultures and forms, technology and tradition, the ancient past and the possible future.
