A Salute to the Troops: In Performance at the White House

Join President and Mrs. Obama for an all-star tribute to the men and women who serve the United States.

President and Mrs. Obama host a PBS music special from the White House, airing Friday, May 22, 2015 at 10 p.m. on WXXI-TV, with an all-star tribute to the men and women who serve the United States. Performances by Mary J. Blige, Common, John Fogerty, Willie Nelson, Romeo Santos, and active duty military members U.S. Army Sgt. Christiana R. Ball, U.S. Marine Corps Capt. Matt Smith and Capt. John Ed Auer. There also will be a performance by Daughtry via satellite of their USO concert at Yokota Air Base in Japan, as well as a live-viewing audience of troops from the USO Warrior and Family Center at Fort Belvoir in Virginia.

Veterans Connections:

To draw awareness to the issues of local veterans, WXXI and the Little Theatre convened a Veterans Affairs Task Force to identify the most pressing needs and issues facing veterans and their families in the Greater Rochester area and to make recommendations about ways that WXXI/Little programming and outreach can help address those needs.
