WXXI Kids 2014 Summer Learning Program
WXXI Kids 2014 Summer Learning Program
Mon, 06/02/2014 - 6:00am - Tue, 08/26/2014 - 6:30pm
WXXI Kids offers FREE, fun and educational content and tools for families this summer!
Multiplatform content and activities in the community to help kids and parents learn and explore together and prevent learning loss all summer
When School's Out The Learning Doesn't Stop!
During the summer keeping kids learning and exploring helps prevent learning loss known as the “summer slide”. WXXI Kids & PBS KIDS are here to help families by focusing on literacy and learning over the summer with themed programming, online resources, video clips, episodes, apps, online games, activities and live events.
Avoid the Summer Slide
Research shows that students experience significant learning loss when they do not participate in educational activities during the summer months, and that loss is even greater among children in low-income communities. PBS KIDS and WXXI Kids along with other stations across the country are working with partners to help parents find free resources and activities to combat the summer slump. Using on-air programs, digital resources, the NYS summer reading program and community activities. WXXI Kids and Monroe County Library System keep families learning and exploring all summer long.
On-air Programming
Each week, WXXI PBS KIDS will feature learning & reading-related episodes from favorite PBS KIDS series on WXXI-TV (21.1/Cable 11/1221) and WXXI-CREATE (21.3/Cable 1276). Follow WXXI Kids on Facebook & @edoutreach21 on Twitter for regular updates. Check out WXXI's American Graduate site at http://wxxi.org/grad for additional learning resources.
