Sun, 04/22/2012 - 7:00pm

Tune in for Teagan and the Tweeds & Bobby Henrie & the Goners in this week's all new episode of OnStage.

OnStage, WXXI's original television and radio series that spotlights musical talent from upstate New York, continues its third season with Teagan and the Tweeds & Bobby Henrie & the Goners on Sunday, April 22 at 7 p.m. on WXXI-TV/HD (DT21.1/cable 1011 and 11).

Teagan and the Tweeds

A six-piece ensemble that includes a Hammond organ and pedal-steel guitar, Teagan and the Tweeds rock a blues-country-folk vibe that fills a venue like nobody’s business. With their consistently high-energy performances and wide-ranging musical appeal, The Tweeds have amassed an impressive following in and around Rochester, attracting new admirers at every show. They offer a remarkable array of originals and pay due homage to greats like Janis Joplin, Patsy Cline, Aretha Franklin, and Stevie Wonder in a well-handled selection of crowd-pleasing covers. With almost 90 years of collective musical experience among them, including two classically trained members, this band is the real deal.

Bobby Henrie & the Goners

Bobby Henrie & the Goners formed in 1985 when Bobby Henrie, along with Brian Williams and James Symonds decided to start a Rockabilly band, capitalizing on their respective years of musical experience and skill. The group plays authentic Rockabilly and roots Rock’n’Roll in the tradition of musicians that defined the genre in the 1950s; Carl Perkins, Roy Orbinson, Buddy Holly, Elvis Presley, Johnny Burnett. In their lean trio format, the Goners are respectful of the music that preceded and influenced early Rock’n’Roll and are equally comfortable with country, blues and swing.

OnStage repeats the following Saturday at 12 a.m. on WXXI-TV/HD, and a radio version of the series will begin airing on WRUR-FM 88.5 and WITH-FM 90.1 in February.
