WXXI's Monks' Bread Thanksgiving Challenge on WXXI-TV/HD

For every viewer that calls in to make a pledge on Thanksgiving night during Jackie Evancho: Dream with Me or Carole King & James Taylor Troubadour Reunion, the Abbey of the Genesee will donate a loaf of Monks’ Bread to Foodlink.

On Thanksgiving evening WXXI-TV/HD will kick off its winter membership campaign with a Monks’ Bread Thanksgiving Challenge.  It’s a great way for the community to show their support of public broadcasting and help boost supplies at area soup kitchens, shelters and emergency food pantries.

Tune in to WXXI-TV/HD (DT21.1/cable 1011 and 11) at 8 p.m. to learn more about the Monks' Bread Challenge, and catch Jackie Evancho: Dream with Me, a Great Performances Special. Already familiar to national audiences from her debut appearances on America’s Got Talent, the 11-year-old extraordinary soprano Jackie Evancho presents her own Great Performances special.  Her musical selection includes: When You Wish Upon A Star, Nella Fantasia, Somewhere, All I Ask Of You, and Dream With Me.

Then, stay tuned at 9:30 p.m. for Carole King & James Taylor Troubadour Reunion. It’s been 40 years since they first played together at the Troubadour on Santa Monica Boulevard, but the two musical legends — Carole King and James Taylor — share the stage once again at the famed music club in this special broadcast.
