Live Taping of WXXI's "OnStage"
Live Taping of WXXI's "OnStage"
Througout October and the first week of November
Twenty area bands will perform live at WXXI's Studios for our music series OnStage and you're invited to be part of the audience!
In early September, WXXI invited area musicians to enter its Band Call for the chance to perform on OnStage, a TV and radio series that spotlights a wide-range of musical talent from upstate New York. More than 125 bands submitted entries, and 20 were chosen. These performers will join the Lou Gramm Band, The Tommy Brunett Band, and The Coupe DeVilles, who were recorded earlier this summer.
The area musicians and bands selected from the Band Call are: Andrew Marks, Blue Jimmy, Bobby Henrie & The Goners, Chinchillas, Clearly From Negligence, Cruelty Free, Funknut, Joe Crookston, Makepeace Brothers, Miche Fambro, Mikaela Davis, MoChester, Teressa Wilcox, Po' Boys Brass Band, The Prickers, Teegan and the Tweeds, Tinted Image, Tony Brown, Violet Mary, and Walri.
Though a few select bands will perform at venues throughout the region, the majority will be taped at WXXI’s Studio in front of a live audience the weeks of October 17, October 24, October 31. Two bands will be taped each evening at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. The public is invited to these free tapings, but reservations are required by calling (585) 258-0200.

Season three of OnStage will premiere Sunday, January 8 on WXXI-TV/HD with the Lou Gramm Band, recorded at the Rochester Public Market in July 2011. During that evening, WXXI also recorded Gramm’s opening acts – The Tommy Brunett Band and The Coupe DeVilles – which will be featured together in a forthcoming OnStage episode. The radio broadcast version will also premiere in January on WRUR-FM 88.5 in Rochester and on WITH-FM 90.1 in Ithaca (an exact date to be announced soon).
Production funding for OnStage is provided by The Genesee Brewing Company.

Just wondering if there are any times that you feature local singer/songwriters who are basically solo. Please advise.

Tracey,
Yes we did select a few singers/songwriters that are solo for season three of OnStage. Our band call for the series has ended, but we hope to continue the series after season three. And, if we do, we will host another band call... around August/September 2012. Tivoli Skye should definitely submit then.

Per your comment to Tivoli Skye: Our band call for the series has ended, but we hope to continue the series after season three. And, if we do, we will host another band call... around August/September 2012. Have you started the search for your new bands?
thank you,
