Conspiracies and scheming abound in Verdi's Un Ballo in Maschera.

Classical 91.5 continues its Saturday afternoon presentation of operas with Verdi's Un Ballo in Maschera, airing Saturday, June 11 at 1 p.m. on Classical 91.5/FM-HD 91.5-1.

In Un Ballo in Maschera conspirators want the monarch dead — and suspected adultery plays right into their murderous plans. The king is in love with his best friend's wife — and she's in love with him. Desperate to extinguish her ardor, she turns to a sorceress for help — but too late! The secret's out and a devastated husband takes his revenge!

The opera stars Frank Lopardo as Gustavo, Sondra Radvanovsky as Amelia, Mark Delavan as Renato, Stephanie Blythe as Ulrica, and Kathleen Kim as Oscar.
