Tune in for The Impossible Astronaut in the premiere episode of Series 6! Amy, Rory and River mourn the Doctor, but are soon plunged into an adventure with President Nixon and the Silence! WXXI's Series 6 premiere of Doctor Who airs Saturdays at 11 p.m. beginning August 4, 2012 on WXXI-TV (DT21.1/cable 11/cable 1011).

A tradition for Rochester for decades - I started watching in the early 90s - it's Dr. Who at 11pm on WXXI! Wanted to know why he was gone - could you substitute some old Tom Baker expsodes in the interim? Thanks!

Doctor Who

Doctor Who will be back on Saturday nights at 11pm, on WXXI, starting August 4th. The BBC initially intended to make the new season of Doctor Who available to us in April, but was unable to deliver. The rights window was pushed back to begin in August for Public Television. We have used all of our broadcast rights for the previous season, so we have been playing a music series. We do not own rights to seasons featuring earlier Doctors, so that was not an option for us. We hope that you will enjoy the new season!

Dr who NEW season 7

Are you airing Season 6 at 11pm? Because BBC America has been advertising the new season 7 coming in the fall. We have already rented and watched up through Season 6. We were considering cancelling cable though in the hopes that we could plan on WXXI airing the current Dr Who episodes . Do you know when you would get the rights for that season? thanks!!

Yes - We are airing Season 6. This season was not available to us until this month. We anticipate Season 7 being offered to us for use at the earliest this coming Spring. The BBC licenses the show to Public television stations on a delayed basis, for a hefty fee. Wish I had better news to share...
