Austin City Limits Marathon on WXXI-TV
Sat, 03/19/2011 - 8:00pm
Austin City Limits continues its longstanding tradition of showcasing the best of original American music.
WXXI presents an Austin City Limits Marathon on Saturday, March 19 starting at 8 p.m. on WXXI-TV/HD (DT21.1/cable 1011 and 11). The marathon will feature performances by Patty Griffin & Friends at 8 p.m.; Spoon at 9:30 p.m.; and John Legend & the Roots at 10:30 p.m.
Patty Griffin believes that no one can rock ‘n’ roll or participate in any other kind of American popular music without “taking a long, deep drink from the pure waters of gospel’s golden age.” Her newest album is about songs and soaring voices, faith and fate.
Britt Daniel, Jim Eno, Rob Pope and Eric Harvey formed their indie band Spoon in Austin, Texas. The band Spoon was named after the 1970s German band Can’s hit song Spoon. The indie band describes their music as “rock ‘n’ roll.”
John Legend is an American recording artist, musician, and actor who partnered with the band The Roots and created the album Wake Up! John Legend won three Grammys this year for this particular album.
