2012 WXXI Auction Kick Off

Bid high! Bid Often!
More than 5,000 items are up for bid during the WXXI 2012 Online Auction, opening Saturday, April 14th and running through Saturday, April 28th. A 2012 Ford Fiesta SE from Shepard Ford, food and wine certificates, exciting town packages, original artwork from featured artists Jim Christy and Laura Wilder, and the 2012 collectible WXXI Auction truck are just some of the merchandise to be featured in the televised WXXI Auction Kick-Off Special, airing Saturday, April 14 at 8 p.m. on WXXI-TV/HD (DT21.1/cable 1011 and 11). People are encouraged to sign up for their bidders accounts before the broadcast by logging on to WXXI.org/auction.
This year the Auction is featuring Daily Deals on some of the most coveted items – including the Apple iPad 3, Xerox Rochester International Jazz Fest tickets, and dinner with Lidia Bastinaich. WXXI will unveil these Daily Deals online and on our air each day. Deals will close at 10 every evening.
WXXI Auction Kick-Off Special will encore, and two additional episodes that feature even more merchandise will air between April 18th and 28th on WXXI-TV/HD, as well as on WXXI-WORLD (DT21.2/cable 524) and WXXI-CREATE (DT21.3/cable 433). How to register for a bidder’s account:
1. Log on to wxxi.org/auction
2. Under the heading “I’m a new user,” click “Sign me up” and fill out the registration form.
3. Don’t forget to write down your user name and password, you need these to place your bid.
How to make a bid:
1. Go to the Auction home page (wxxi.org/auction) and browse through the many categories. Once you decide what to bid on, just enter your bid and password.
2. When you make your bid, click on “Bid this exact amount” and the bid will go through.
3. If you click on “Bid up to the amount on my behalf” you can use the Reserve Bidding function, which allows you to set a “do not exceed” amount for your bid.
4. When you overbid on an item valued at $25 or more, you’ll receive a $5 gift certificate to the Ravioli Shop, and a $5 gift certificate for Cabot Creamery.
