A Prairie Home Companion Live on Christmas Day

Sat, 12/25/2010 - 6:00pm - 8:00pm

Don't miss this live broadcast on Christmas day.

What an extra joyful way to celebrate the warmth of Christmas Day—listening to Garrison Keillor, the Royal Academy of Radio Actors, The Guy's All-Star Shoe Band and sound effects wizard Fred Newman, live from New York City in a very special Christmas show. A Prairie Home Companion Christmas Special airs Saturday, December 25 at 6 p.m. on Classical 91.5/FM-HD91.5-1.

In fact, Garrison's special guests will be poet Sharon Olds, author Ian Frazier and playwright and author Paul Rudnick. Musical guest will be pianist Rob Fisher and Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth will drop by to sing a song.

Here's the word from Garrison: "I and some writers I especially admire will talk about Christmas when we were kids and read some writing about our respective families." It will be about, he says, "sweet reminiscence" of Christmases of past.

This is one Prairie Home not to miss—an incredibly rare treat for the gang and listeners alike. The show will come from the intimate, 449-seat Merkin Concert Hall at Kaufman Center.

A Prairie Home Companion also airs on AM 1370/FM-HD 91.5-2 Sunday, December 26 at 12 noon, and WRUR-FM 88.5 Sunday, December 26 at 4 p.m.
