Hear emerging young artists alongside some of the country’s most acclaimed musicians as they play live from the most famous folk festivals in the country.

WRUR-FM 88.5 in Rochester and WITH-FM 90.1 in Ithaca present NPR Music Live from the Newport Folk Festival, Saturday, July 31 and Sunday, August 1 from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. It will also stream online (see link below). Broadcasting live from Fort Adams State Park, the 51st edition of George Wein’s Newport Folk Festival features such artists as Andrew Bird, The Felice Brothers, Doc Watson, Dawes, Nneka, The Avett Brothers, and many more.

All Songs Considered host Bob Boilen and WFUV's Rita Houston guide listeners through the festival, sharing details about the bands, and their opinions on the performances. This year's lineup features both old favorites and young unknowns, from heavy-metal bluegrass to Nigerian-inspired hip-hop and reggae.
