WXXI remembers the late Andrew Langston with a special broadcast of an archived episode of the 1990's series the Rochester I Know.

In memory of WDKX CEO and founder Andrew Langston, who passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at the age of 83, WXXI will air an archived episode of its The Rochester I Know series featuring Mr. Langston. The Rochester I Know: Andrew Langston airs Sunday, June 20 at 6 p.m. on WXXI-TV (DT21.1/cable1011 and 11).

In the half-hour episode, taped in 1993, Mr. Langston recalls his childhood in Dawson, Georgia, working as a paper delivery boy, graduating as high school valedictorian, and spending time with Martin Luther King, Jr. He recounts overcoming barriers and describes how numerous experiences as “a student of people and business”, as well as his move to Rochester in 1960, allowed him to fulfill his dream of involvement in commercial broadcasting and community outreach.

The Rochester I Know, produced by WXXI, was a weekly series recorded in the 1980s and 1990s that featured Rochester citizens recounting fascinating stories about Rochester.
