Mon, 05/17/2010 - 7:00pm

An in depth look at China’s Cultural Revolution from 1966-1976.

Few events of the 20th century have dramatically engulfed so large a proportion of humanity as China’s Cultural Revolution (1966-1976). Violence and disorder were widespread, and it is estimated that half-a-million Chinese died as a direct result. Yet the Cultural Revolution remains only barely understood. This program explores the historical and ethical questions raised by this occurrence.

Global Voices "Morning Sun" encores Monday, May 17 at 7 p.m. on PBS World (cable 524/DT21.2).

An international independent documentary series from the Independent Television Service (ITVS), GLOBAL VOICES samples the best of international documentary. In its second season, the series features several new documentaries and notable international documentaries that have previously aired on PBS in other forums.
