1370 Connection
Fri, 01/30/2009 - 12:00pm
David Cay Johnston, Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist and author, will guest host a 1370 Connection special on the state budget Friday, January 30 at 12 noon on AM1370/HD91.5-2. This radio special kicks off a new partnership WXXI’s Center for Public Affairs has with Johnston in the Center’s continuing effort to foster a deeper understanding of community issues. Johnston will also host a four-part economic history series, How Did We Get Here?, as part of Need to Know, beginning Friday, February 6 at 8:30 p.m. on WXXI-TV 21 (cable 11) and WXXI-HD (DT21.1/cable 1011). It will air for four consecutive Friday nights, and repeat the following Sunday at 12:30 p.m. The series will trace our economic system to the beginning of civilization, revealing founding principles and age-old struggles that have survived thousands of years of humanity.
Johnston recently retired from The New York Times, where he was a senior reporter covering tax policy and other economic issues. Johnston is also a columnist for the journal Tax Notes and teaches the law of the ancient world at Syracuse University Law School. He is also the author of three books, including New York Times best sellers Perfectly Legal and Free Lunch.
