September 2015 Listings for From the Top
September 2015 Listings for From the Top
Sundays at 5:00 p.m.
This month From the Top comes to our own backyard with a program from the Chautauqua Institution (9/27).
9/6 From Calderwood Hall at Boston's Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, you'll meet a guitarist who’s an expert on roller coasters and a teenage cellist from New Orleans whose family is French-American but who loves all things Korean. Performances on this show range from a Chopin piano favorite to the wild ride of a trombone quartet.
9/13 From a private home in the Back Bay area of Boston, you’ll hear amazing performances and inspiring stories from some of America’s best young classical musicians.
9/20 From Wellesley, MA, we pay tribute to Jewish composers and Jewish music. A precocious 12-year-old violinist performs the music of George Gershwin, a young tenor performs his own composition inspired by the great twentieth century Jewish poet Hannah Senesh, and the show’s finale features the great sound of Klezmer music.
9/27 From the famed Chautauqua Institution you’ll hear an 18-year-old violinist from NYC perform music of Camille Saint-Saëns, a 16-year-old pianist Elisabeth Tsai performs Chopin, an 18-year-old recorder player perform music by Arcangelo Corelli and an 18-year-old cellist performs Mendelssohn’s Songs Without Words.
