U-CONN’s Jorgensen Center for Performing Arts

U-CONN isn't only known for its great sports teams.  They also have some of the most amazing young classical musicians.  Hear them at the end of this month from the Jorgensen Center for Performing Arts.

5/3       From the Aspen Music Festival and School in Aspen, Colorado, we hear an outstanding teenage violinist from Shanghai who triumphs in his performance of one of the most difficult and virtuosic pieces written for unaccompanied violin, and we’ll meet a young flutist with a moving story about being adopted as an 18-year-old into a new family, and the Aspen Piano Trio performs Brahms.

5/10      From our home in Boston, we hear 13-year-old violinist Masha Lakisova performs the music of Robert Schumann; we also meet an internationally award-winning young pianist; and a teenage boy Ray Seong Jin Han who shares the humorous story of studying and then rejecting about five different instruments before finally discovering his lifelong soulmate: the French horn.
5/17      From George Washington University’s Lisner Auditorium with Washington Performing Arts perform in a special show sponsored by the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation, in celebration of their 15th anniversary. This recording will feature several performers who are Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award recipients.

5/24      This week we’ll catch up with several alumni and find out what they are doing now. You’ll hear amazing performances and inspiring stories from some of America’s best young classical musicians.
