February 2015 Listings for From the Top
February 2015 Listings for From the Top
Sundays at 5:00 p.m.
From the Top brings us four exciting programs this month. Two of those programs are hosted from the program's home: Jordan Hall in Boston. From Jordan Hall we will hear music of Glinka, Bach, and more performed by thoughtful and musically gifted teenagers.
2/1 From Montclair State University with The Shanghai Quartet, which is the Quartet-in-Residence at the John J. Cali School of Music.
2/8 From Jordan Hall in Boston, Massachusetts, we’ll hear The Lark by Mikhail Glinka brought to life by a wonderfully musical 11-year-old pianist. We'll also enjoy some unaccompanied Bach performed by a very thoughtful teenager from the Boston area, and a teenage string quartet shares moving stories about the healing power of music in their own lives.
2/15 From Chattanooga, Tennessee, we’ll hear an uproarious performance of the music of Japanese composer/pianist Hiromi Uehara, performed by a 14-year-old girl from nearby Maryville, Tennessee. We'll also hear from a young singer who has raised over $14,000 for arts programs at the local schools and a local teenage guitar quartet serenades us with a classical arrangement of an Appalachian folk song.
2/22 From our home at New England Conservatory’s Jordan Hall, we’ll hear amazing performances and inspiring stories from some of America’s best young classical musicians.
