From the Top takes us to Colorado, Texas, Pennsylvania and to Interlochen this month. Also highlighted are top performances from the past few seasons, as well as a performance of Brahms' Trio in B Major by Trio Largo Verde.
4/3 From the Bravo! Vail Festival in Vail, Colorado, we feature one of the top training orchestras in the United States: The National Repertory Orchestra performing music of Falla and Poulenc. Also, 17-year-old violinist Mira Yamamoto shares the moving story of how music transformed her from a completely emotionally shut-down child to a vivacious leader in her youth orchestra.
4/10 From Texas Tech University we’ll feature a 16-year-old violinist Fiona Shea from Lubbock, Texas, a 16-year-old pianist Nicholas Mendez from Pasadena, California, a 16-year-old flutist Yuna Langehennig, from Lubbock, Texas and the Trio Lago Verde.
4/17 This week’s highlights show will feature some of the best performances we've featured over the past couple of seasons. You'll meet one of the most imaginative young composers in the country, hear an unforgettable performance by a public school choir from Oklahoma, and hear a talented teenage pianist play Prokofiev. Plus, a fantastic 10-year-old trumpet player performs the virtuosic Carnival of Venice.
4/24 From Brazosport College we’ll hear an 11-year-old pianist Bryant Li from Katy, Texas, a 17-year-old flutist and current student at the Interlochen Arts Academy Mei Stone from Waco, Texas, an 18-year-old composer Aiyana Braun from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and a 17-year-old trumpet player Ayman A. Abouleish from Houston, Texas.
