WXXI Education curated a list of resources to help adults (parents, caregivers, educators) discuss emergencies, news headlines and when tragedy strikes. 
Children may have tough questions when it comes to parental addiction, but there are age-appropriate ways to respond. Learn about Parent Addiction Resources from Sesame Street in Communities with some questions children might ask, and ways you might consider responding.

Sesame Street in Communities (SSIC) builds on Sesame Street's 50-year commitment to address kids’ developmental, physical, and emotional needs.
In 2019, WXXI Public Broadcasting was selected as one of 10 local PBS stations across the nation to participate in a special Sesame Street in Communities Rural Outreach Initiative, funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. 
In 2020, WXXI was honored to be selected as one of 20 PBS stations across the nation participating in a special Sesame Street in Communities Public Media Champions project, funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. The goal of this project was to continue to support our region's rural families and child care providers. 
Sesame Workshop continues its major commitment to racial justice with new resources and content called "Coming Together" to help families talk to young children about race and identity. 
Sesame Street in Communities provides a variety of resource types for grownups to use with young children - one type is digital storybooks. 
Want to have even more fun with your Sesame Street friends? Try listening to a Sesame Street playlist of music or watching some fun video shorts!
In 2021 and 2022, WXXI will continue our collaborative work to support local rural families with Sesame Street in Communities resources with support from the Waldron Rise Foundation and a gift in memory of Fay Fondiller. 
Gather the gang for Family Night, weekly family viewing events featuring movie specials or themed programming. Watch, play and learn with your favorite PBS KIDS characters every Friday from 7 to 9 pm and repeating on Saturday and Sunday evenings.
