As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to be an unprecedented crisis. I hope that our work keeping the community well informed with the latest official information is of comfort. We are proud of the many ways that WXXI is helping our community to weather this emergency.

Please join me in congratulating WXXI News for receiving two “Excellence in Broadcasting” awards from the New York State Broadcasters Association. Our Exited podcast garnered the award in the ‘Outstanding Use of Digital Platforms’ category.

On Monday, December 5th WXXI News presents a five-part series that looks at teacher diversity. Degrees of Diversity stories will air Monday through Friday during Morning Edition (6 a.m. to 9 a.m.) and All Things Considered (4 p.m. to 6 p.m.) on AM 1370, WRUR-FM 88.5, and WEOS-FM 89.5.

As we gear up for Election Night, WXXI News is working hard to provide you with the information and resources you need to cast an informative vote. This includes last Monday's Voice of the Voter debate for the Monroe County Executive race.

Our news department has been busy covering local and state political races in anticipation of Election Day. On October 20th, WXXI brought you the only televised New York Gubernatorial debate.

WXXI News and the Innovation Trail are spearheading a new project called “Understanding the Affordable Care Act.” This on-going news series will help answer the community’s questions about Obamacare. Thank you for making your pledge of support during our Spring Radio Membership Drive. Because of the community outpouring, we were able to reach our goal and shave nearly two days off our campaign. It obviously signals the value placed on public radio — especially WXXI News — so I'd like to share some information on a couple of our recent ventures. 

Although Rochester and the Finger Lakes region was spared the worst of Superstorm Sandy, WXXI was there to bring you the news and official information needed to help keep you and your family safe.

While February is keeping the temperature cold outside, the political season has begun to heat up. From the Republican primary process, to Governor Cuomo’s budget battle in Albany, to Kodak’s ongoing bankruptcy situation, you can trust WXXI News will be at the forefront, providing all the information and analysis you will need.
