Met at the Movies begins in October!

The 2009-2010 Metropolitan Opera HD Theater presentations will include nine operas this season.  We just received confirmation that the Metropolitan Opera HD Theater presentations will be available at Cinemark Tinseltown on Buffalo Road in Rochester.  We are awaiting confirmation of the Regal Eastview presentations.
The Met at the Movies broadcasts will all be at 1:00 p.m. and are as follows:  (note: the radio simulcasts begin in December 2009)

Reality Television? Reality Opera!

We've all seen reality television, but now the Metropolitan Opera presents The Audition the ultimate in reality programming.  This  behind-the-scenes documentary film by Susan Froemke follows several young up-and-coming opera stars for the week leading up to the finals of the  Metropolitan Opera's National Council Auditions, competing for a cash prize and the chance to sing on the Met Opera stage.  You can see a preview of the film by clicking on the link abov


Saturday's Met at the Movies

This Saturday, October 11th, at 1:00 p.m. the Metropolitan Opera will present the next HD broadcast live in movie theaters across the country.  Richard Strauss' Salome will feature Finnish soprano Karita Mattila, Ildiko Komlosi, Kim Begley, Joseph Kaiser, baritone Juha Uusitalo as Jochanaan, and conductor Mikko Franck. 


Renée Fleming & “Met at the Movies”

This morning’s Democrat and Chronicle reported that Sweden’s King Gustaf has awarded the 2008 Polar Music Prize to Rochester native Renée Fleming. You have the opportunity to see and hear Renée on the Big Screen in the very first Metropolitan Opera Live in HD theatre presentation on Monday September 22, 2008 at 6:30 p.m.
