Get to know Berlioz's musical take on the classic tale of Romeo and Juliet this month on the Chicago Symphony broadcasts. 

An exciting month of broadcasts from the Chicago Symphony featuring an appearance by Yo-yo Ma, symphonies by Mahler, Brucker, Schubert, and Mozart, and a musical interpretation of Romeo and Juliet. 

4/2     The Chicago Symphony performes Weber: The Ruler of the Spirits Overture Shostakovich: Violin Concerto No. 1, Berlioz:  Symphonie Fantastique, and Queen Mab Scherzo and Romeo at the Tomb of the Capulets from Romeo and Juliet.

4/9     Donald Runnicles conducts Mahler and Mendelssohn Mendelssohn: Violin Concerto Mahler: Symphony No.5 Beethoven: Coriolan Overture (Robert Chen, v: Donald Runnicles and Fritz Reiner, cond) 

4/16   Christoph Eschenbach and Sir Mark Elder conduct Beethoven: Overture to Egmont,  Rands: …where the murmurs die…, Bruckner: Symphony No. 9, and Tchaikovsky:  Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture. 

4/23    Riccardo Muti conducts Panufnik: Concerto in modo antico with Christopher Martin, trumpet, Stravinsky: Suite from The Firebird, Tchakovsky: Symphony No. 3 , Polish, and Schubert: Symphony No. 8, Unfinished.
