Music at the Movies

Like music? Like movies? Have any favorite combinations of the two?

For the first Classical 91.5 film series at The Little Theatre in Rochester, you'll have the chance to see ...and hear...three classic movies on the big screen. Each will be followed by a discussion of the use of music in the movie, with a panel including music and movie specialists, and each movie will be introduced by one of the music hosts from WXXI's Classical 91.5.

Saturday, August 3rd at 1pm
hosted by Julia Figueras.
1982 film with a groundbreaking score by Philip Glass.

2001: A Space Odyssey
Saturday, August 10th at 1pm
hosted by Mona Seghatoleslami
The Kubrick classic that made innovative use of existing classical music recordings.

Saturday, August 17th at 1pm
hosted by Brenda Tremblay

1984 Oscar winner for Best Picture about Antonio Salieri's obsession with the genius of Mozart.

Pledge your support to WXXI at the $30 level for a pair of tickets to any one of these screenings. Or pledge at the $90 level to receive a pair to the entire series. You can also arrange for as many guests to as many films as you'd like! Make your contribution online here to become a member and join Classical 91.5 at the movies this summer.

(And if you have favorite movies with classical music connections – as part of the story or in the soundtrack – post them in the comments, and I'll add them to the list to consider for future screenings.)
