The groundbreaking, category-shattering trio Time for Three transcends traditional classification, with elements of classical, country western, gypsy and jazz idioms forming a blend all its own on the June 26th program from the Indiana Music Festival.
6/5 Rockport Music Festival The Shalin Liu Performance Center, recently built in the seaside village of Rockport, MA, features enormous floor-to-ceiling windows looking out onto the Atlantic Ocean. The festival features classical concerts, as well as jazz, world and pop performances throughout the summer series.
6/12 Sante Fe Chamber Music Festival The nation’s oldest capitol city has become a hotbed of artistic activity. The Sante Fe Chamber Music Festival offers a six-week season of more than 80 concerts, recitals, master classes, youth concerts and open rehearsals each year.
6/19 Grand Teton Music Festival Surrounded by the natural wonder of some of the world’s most spectacular snowcapped mountains, the festival celebrates its fiftieth year in 2011 with eight weeks of concerts.
6/26 Indiana University Summer Music Festival From the Jacobs School of Music, classical superstar Joshua Bell, one of the school’s most famous alumni, played Bruch’s Scottish Fantasy with the Festival Orchestra conducted by Michael Stern. Other highlights of the festival included performances by legendary pianist and Distinguished Professor Menhem Pressler and by the eclectic string trio Time for Three.
