Executive Producer

POSITION:               Executive Producer
DIVISION:               Television
CLASSIFICATION:    Full-Time, Exempt
REPORTS TO:            Vice-President, Television

The position is responsible for the highest quality production and distribution of WXXI television / digital-first programs across all platforms, including interactive, social media and others, as appropriate. Manage all aspects of planning creative progress, producing and evaluating WXXI television / digital-first programs in assigned formats. Organize all elements of original programming, including the oversight and coordination of producers, writers and editors to create dynamic television / digital-first programs for assigned formats. Productions include educational programs, documentaries, news productions, community co-productions and cross-platform radio and television productions.


  • Conceive, develop, and/or transform ideas and concepts into program content across television, Internet, social media and other technologies.
  • Coordinate, plan and produce program content across television, Internet, social media and other technologies.
  • Write and/or edit selected programs.
  • Oversee post-production, distribution, and carriage across television, Internet, social media and other technologies.
  • Oversee studio and remote program content and format.
  • Assist in production fund raising activities for selected projects.
  • Working with the Vice President of Television, develop and monitor production budgets as assigned.
  • Serve as Television Department point of contact for Creative Services, Education/Interactive Services and Membership/Audience Services staff.
  • Participate in membership drives and WXXI events as required.
  • Carry out other department activities as assigned by the Vice President for Television.

EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE BA or equivalent experience

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 3 years television producing experience. Solid producing experience and editing experience. Management experience preferred. Must be an energetic team player with ability to oversee multiple projects.

SKILLS: Social media skills strongly preferred. Strong writing and communication skills.
