Updates

January Update
Help Wanted – Sundays at 2:30pm – Starting January 17th
The Help Wanted Project is an extensive multi-media co-production of WMHT and WCNY, anchored on a series of 26 half hour television programs.

Using a combination of documentary production and in-studio informational segments, The Help Wanted series will follow the journeys of 44 New Yorkers from all walks of life, all educational levels, and located around the state. The series profiles individuals and families under stress as they struggle to overcome an array of economic obstacles.

But the message of Help Wanted is all about hope and help, and how to get it. Each episode will give viewers information, access to resources, and show them how to find help in four major areas:
·         Finding Jobs
·         Workforce Training
·         Protecting Consumers
·         Family Financial Planning

In collaboration with numerous community social service organizations, media partners and government agencies, WMHT and WCNY will provide New Yorkers with reliable information from trusted sources on a variety of media platforms. To accomplish this, they’ll be creating a substantial web portal, which links to local, regional and state-wide resources and up-to-date information, as well as imbed content from the Help Wanted television series. They’ll also be offering a variety of multi-media content packages, interstitials and modules for local public and commercial television and radio stations, newspapers and social media Web sites.

Replaces an airing of Your New Home for 26 weeks.

February Update:

Sundays at 10:30 – Starting February 7th –  Peep and the Big Wide World II/Pocoyo

PEEP AND THE BIG WIDE WORLD/POCOYO follows the adventures of a chicken named Peep, a robin (Chirp), an endearing duck (Quack) and an extended family of friends and (occasional) foes. The Emmy-winning science and math series is set in and around a large urban park — a place of great wonder and mystery, a "big wide world" the characters are forever eager to explore. This season, the animals learn about sand, plants, food, animal behavior and patterns, counting, collecting and shapes, as well as Groundhog Day and Earth Day. In season two, each PEEP episode features a seven-minute Pocoyo interstitial, delightful 3-D animation about a curious young boy's adventures with his animal friends.  British actor and comedian Stephen Fry narrates.

Replaces: Pocoyo (Which is no longer in rights)

Thursdays at 12:30 – Starting February 11th – Tommy Tang’s Easy Thai Cooking
In each episode, Tommy uncovers Thai history and cuisine, the health secrets of exotic spices, and the country's cultural treasures and contemporary trends. Tommy journeys deep into the heart of Siam to meet the mysterious people of Surin, visit the infamous "Death Railway" over the River Kwai, shop at the floating markets, sample street food, witness the elephant round-up ceremony, cruise along the Tar Jeen River and learn about Thai silk industry. He also pays a visit to SukhoThai (the first Ancient Capital of Siam), stops at a jade factory to see workers mine and carve the gemstone, lives like a local in Bangkok and attends a Chinese New Year celebration. Along the way, he re-discovers the simplicity and joy of cooking Thai food, while expert videography captures Thailand's dramatic backdrops.
