WXXI's Activities
For Kids:

For Kids:

• Check out our Kids’ Activities in Studio A. Meet Buddy the Dinosaur from Dinosaur Train. Visit Seneca Park Zoo animals, learn about safety from the Red Cross. Try a science experiment with the Rochester Museum and Science Center.
•Have your picture taken with PBS characters. In addition to Buddy the Dinosaur and Word Girl. The Big Red Dog, The Cat in the Hat and Big Bird will be here.
• Check out the set of Homework Hotline and Assignment: The World. Walk on the set and meet the hosts of WXXI’s live statewide call-in show, Homework Hotline, where kids receive help with homework problems right on the air, and Assignment: The World, the longest-running classroom program in the nation, where WXXI and the Associated Press deliver news and current events in a safe environment for 4-8th graders.
• Get a temporary tatoo. Check out the Green Room (where our television hosts and guests primp before going on air) and get a cool dinosaur tattoo.
• Explore musical instruments at the RPO Instrument petting zoo. The RPO hosts this traveling exhibit, which gives youngsters the opportunity to play a variety of musical instruments, as well as to learn how instruments make their sounds.
• Listen to a story and check out a book from the traveling library. Take out a library book, discover a new author, and meet our friends from the library.
• Have your child’s vision tested courtesy of ABVI – Goodwill
For Adults:
•Tour the station. Take a self-guided tour through master control, the sets of our TV productions, and the radio studios.
• Meet the hosts of Classical 91.5. Julia Figueras, Brenda Tremblay, Chris Van Hof, Marianne Carberry and John Andres will all be here to welcome you!
• Talk with our TV Program Director about the upcoming season. WXXI’s Director of TV Programming Irene Fink will share the new PBS fall season with you and answer your questions.
• Question one of our news reporters. We’re turning the tables -- instead of our reporters asking the questions, you can ask them!
• Have your picture taken with Big Bird. Come on, you know you want to!
• Have a health screening, courtesy of the University of Rochester Medical Center, our Second Opinion partner.
• Check out Open Tunings with Scott Regan. Scott will be taping his show, heard on WRUR weekdays from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
• Shop at our Auction and Membership store. From back packs to DVDs of your favorite PBS shows, you’ll find a treasure trove of must-haves at our store!

Open House Special Drawings!
At the Open House WXXI will be giving away a brand new 3D TV set, courtesy of our good friends at Rowe Photo, Video and Audio. We'll also be drawing names for a portable HD Radio, plus other fabulous WXXI packages! Be sure to fill out an entry form for the drawing at the event
