Raising 100,000 Voices

In 2005 WXXI, the University of Rochester Medical Center and The Roadwork For Success In Young Adulthood launched Raising 100,000 Voices, a national outreach initiative designed to encourage young adults to share, through video, community issues they face as emerging adults. The outreach effort was such a success that funding continued, and the project partners are pleased to host the third public screening of a whole new crop of Raising 100,000 Voices mini-documentaries on Friday, May 9, 2008 at 6 p.m. at the Rochester City School District – Wilson Foundation Academy (formerly Madison High School) at 200 Genesee Street. WordGirl Extravaganza

What's all the hullabaloo? It's WXXI's WordGirl Extravaganza. On Saturday, June 7 between 10 a.m. and 12 noon, WXXI will open its studios to kids ages 6-9 and their parents for a fun filled morning of WordGirl events, including a meet and greet with the capped crusading definition dynamo herself! Activities include: WordGirl's "Word Magic/Word Find", Scintillating synonym/antonym scavenger hunt, Captain Huggy Face's extreme word toss, a coloring contest and more.
