WXXI’s Center for Public Affairs is presenting debates and forums for President, Vice President, Congress, and the New York State Senate.  Dates and times are subject to change.

  • Tuesday, September 2  WXXI-AM presents 26th Congressional District Debate sponsored by the SUNY Geneseo Student Association

    On Monday, September 8 from 9 - 11 p.m., WXXI-AM 1370 broadcasted a Congressional Primary Debate between two Democratic candidates in the 26th Congressional District. Jon Powers and Alice Kryzan participated in the debate, recorded at SUNY Geneseo on September 2. The debate was organized by the SUNY Geneseo Student Alliance. The participating candidates are among three Democrats and one Republican seeking the Congressional seat being vacated by US Representative Tom Reynolds (R).

  • Monday, September 22  WXXI hosts a Congressional Forum for deaf and hard-of-hearing citizens in its studios.  The event will be broadcast on WXXI World on a later date. Partners include the National Institute for the Deaf at RIT, Rochester Hearing and Speech, and the Center for Disability Rights.  Funding is provided in part by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting Public Media Innovation fund.

  • Tuesday, October 7 PBS/NPR present Presidential Debate with Tom Brokaw moderating
  • Thursday, October 9 WXXI’s Voice of the Voter initiative is sponsoring this live, 60-minute debate being simulcast on WXXI in Rochester and WNED in Buffalo.
