WXXI sponsors an annual regional contest for K-3rd grade participants through home and school. We also participate in the national content, sending on winning books from each grade level category. Learn More

The Annual Rochester Children's Book Festival is a wonderful free event for families! The event to celebrates kids and reading.

More than forty authors and illustrators from around New York State will be participating at the yearly festival. The festival is dedicated to promoting literacy, benefiting Monroe County libraries, and forging connections between the community and regional children’s authors and illustrators. With so many events being offered, there will be something for everyone!

WXXI is a participant at the event and the media sponsor. A number of the authors that participate are featured in our Book Some Time Spots

Teletubbies: Get Up & Go

• Get Up & Go! Exercise Day with the Teletubbies

  The annual Get Up and Go! Teletubbies day of Exercise is an initiative intended to create an awareness among parents and caregivers of the need for physical activity for young children. The Teletubbies Get Up and Go! show, aired on WXXI, is designed to get small children to start thinking about exercise.
  
  The Teletubbies take them through some of their favorite things to do, like Up and Down and Jumping. Children at home or in daycare settings can incorporate the exercises and related activities into their day. WXXI offers curriculum kits and suggestions to area daycare and pre-school settings interested in taking advantage of the program.
