WXXI Regional Adult Education Network, Mid-West:

Assisting Providers of Adult Education & Workforce Development

The WXXI Regional Adult Education Network is one of seven staff development organizations established by the New York State Education Department's Adult Education and Workforce Development Team. The Network is dedicated to improving the services delivered by providers of adult education, workforce development and training. An advisory board made up of the representatives of the network constituency provides policy direction and governance.

Serving the Mid-West Region of New York State:

The counties located in the mid-west region of New York State are: Monroe, Wayne, Ontario, Yates, Steuben, Seneca, Chemung, and Schuyler counties.

Program Name: 2008-2013 Workforce Investment Act Title II

Due Date: Applications must be postmarked by April 11, 2008

Description: The primary purpose of this RFP is to provide adult education and literacy services to assist adults to become literate and obtain the knowledge and skills necessary for employment and self-sufficiency; to assist adults who are parents to obtain the skills necessary to become partners in the education of their children; and assist adults in the completion of a secondary school education.

Eligible Applicants: Public school districts, BOCES, literacy volunteer agencies, libraries, institutions of higher education, educational opportunity centers, not-for-profit organizations, public housing authorities and consortiums of such agencies. Subgranting for purposes of providing literary services on behalf of the fiscal agent is prohibited.

Please note all consortium members must be eligible recipients and be a direct provider of services. Consortium members are NOT third-party contractors. The consortium member that is designated as the payee/fiscal agent must be an eligible recipient and must also be a direct provider of services.

Funding: Estimated Funds Available: $32,381,584. Estimated size of the awards varies by type. Applicants should submit budget requests for costs that are reasonable and necessary to effectively implement their proposed projects. Awards will be made subject to availability of funding from the US Dept. of Education.

Budget Narratives and the FS-20 form must be submitted for the first year of the program (July 1, 2008-June 30, 2009) only. FS-20 form is available at http://www.oms.nysed.gov/cafe/forms.html
